DRAWING A LEGACY

The way we live our lives have profound impact on the generations after us. Blessed people understand that the most important thing they have to prepare is their legacy: what they can do to bless the next generation.

FOCUS

Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer. Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules. The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this. 2 Timothy 2.3-7 (NIV)

YOU CAN ONLY PLEASE SO MANY PEOPLE…

No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer. V. 4

It’s hard work to please someone. It’s impossible to please everyone.

YOU CAN ONLY HAVE SO MUCH ENERGY…

Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules. V. 5

No cheating. No shortcuts. Only the athletes who give 100% of his energy every day will be the champion.

YOU CAN ONLY HAVE SO MUCH TIME…

The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. V. 6

There is only a small time window for the farmers to sow the harvest. Those who are slacking will lose their harvest.

FOCUS ON WHAT MATTERS

Because there are limits to what we can do, we must make sure that we focus on what matters.

How can we keep our focus in a world that is full of distraction?

PLAN AHEAD

Tell your energy, time, attention, and money where to go ahead of time. Planning ahead makes it easier to focus on what is important instead of being chased by what is urgent.

EVALUATE THE PAST

Where did my time go? Where did my money go? Did I use them the most efficient way – the most focused way – possible? Planning and executing without ever evaluating will make us repeat the same mistakes. Evaluation of the past helps us focus in the present.

WHAT IS YOUR FOCUS?
